High Definition Laser Scans for Glaucoma
Early detection in any disease is the only way to fight the glaucoma because damages done to the optic nerves are not reversible. Researches telling us that in progression of glaucoma, we may loose substantial amount of optic nerve cells even before det
ected by conventional means like visual field test and fundus photography. Ganglion cells in retinas are like a canary in a coal mine. It get affected way before visual outcomes or funds photography chan
ges. The Holy grail of glaucoma diagnosis is detecting early changes on retinal ganglion cells. They are only measurably visible in High Definition Spectral Optical Coherent Tomography ( HD -OCT). Some OCT machines can even scan the anterior chamber angles and corneal tissues. Anterior chamber angle is directly responsible for high eye pressures in glaucoma.
We offer HD – OCT optic nerve scans and anterior chamber angle OCT scans to glaucoma patients and glaucoma suspects. Normal tension glaucoma ( glaucoma with Normal to Low eye pressure) is very difficult to early detect in conventional means without HD OCT scan. If you have family history of glaucoma, or were told about cupping of optic nerve or high pressure, HD- OCT can be definitive test to rule out the possibility of disease.

Plaquenil Use and & Eye Exam
Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) and chloroquine has been used for many illnesses such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory and dermatologic conditions. Plaquenil retinal toxicity can result permanent loss of vision. Early detection can make big differences on visual outcomes of retinal side effects. It is important to catch the side effect of drug early enough to reverse the changes otherwise irreversible drug effects.
According to revised Plaquenil screening protocol by American Academy of Ophthalmology, spectral domain OCT is the must have test to enable early detection. Spectral domain OCT scan is the only test that is sensitive enough to catch early changes much before other tests can detect.

The eyes are the windows to the brain. By understanding layers and cells of eyes, we can understand more of our ultimate mystery, the brain. Seeing the layers of live retina was not possible until OCT technology. HD-OCT shows even more details of eyes down to the individual layers. Some layers in the retina changes way before the vision changes. 10 Years….I Credit CRT for Saving My Vision…
It’s been a great experience.I enjoy the freedom of not having to wear glasses or contacts during the day. Since CRT is at night, I don’t feel it and it doesn’t bother me at all. Also, it become part of my nightly routine, and takes barely any time to put the contacts in or take them out. It works really well too- I can go 3 days without wearing CRT and not have to wear glasses. Also, it’s great that my prescription hasn’t changed for 10 years ( my prescription was getting much worse every few months before I started CRT) so I can credit for saving my vision.
