In 1983, Poul-Jorn Lindberg, owner of an optical shop in Denmark, teamed with architect Hans Dissing to design the first “AIR Titanium” eyeglass frame, and in 1984 LINDBERG Optik Design was born. Lindberg rimless glasses are made from titanium, which is lightweight, flexible and strong, the perfect material for eyewear. Winner of more than 40 design awards, LINDBERG now has a Danish Royal Warrant of Appointment, an honor granted to high-end companies that furnish goods to the royal family. Danish royal family members, actor Robert De Niro, Bill Gates, U.S. News chairman Rupert Murdoch, supermodel Tyra Banks and fashion designer Roberto Cavalli all wear Lindberg eyewear. With their luxurious minimalist style and ultra-light weight, LINDBERG eyeglasses truly prove that “less is more”. The quality of LINDBERG frames is reflected in the feather-weight of the frames, starting at 2.7 grams, some rimless eyeglass frames even weigh as little as 1.9 grams.
Since 1989, LINDBERG has won a number of the top design awards in Denmark, USA, France, Germany, Japan and China. Among the many prestigious awards, Lindberg won the Silmo d’Or Award, iF product design award, G-Mark award, Eyewear of the Year Award and the Red Dot award.
