Learning Improvement Program

Learning and reading problems can occur to any child due to problems and disorders related to the eye. Some children canboy exhibit A.D.D. like symptoms when they read or study because of this. In fact, many difficulties can arise when a child focuses on nearby objects such as a book or a computer screen. These difficulties are often the result of eye muscle and visual processing problems, and can cause symptoms such as headaches, blurred vision, eye-strain, difficulties with concentration, and poor visual memory and comprehension.

Do these problems sound familiar? You may be surprised to know that as many as 1 in 6 individuals have disorders related to their eye muscles which may lead to difficulties in learning and reading.

Many people do not think of mentioning these issues to their eye doctors since they assume A.D.D. like symptoms are medical/mental disorders. Untreated Eye muscle and visual processing problems can lead to:

• Difficulty and loss of interest in reading
• Slow & erratic reading with poor comprehension
• Short attention span or lack of it
• Fatigue along with poor work or school performance
• Feelings of frustration with school work
• Frequent wandering or crossing of eyes

If you suspect your child may have any of these symptoms, ask Dr. Youn for the diagnosis and treatment options during the next visit. At the EyePlace, we offer customized high-tech vision therapy programs to address your child's needs.
