Eye Exam & Treatment

   An eye examination with Dr. Youn is a complete physical examination for your eyes.  Using state of the art equipment, he will examine your eyes for:  astigmatism, myopia, and hyperopia, as well as eye diseases such as: glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinal disease, macular degeneration, retinal tears &  detachments, corneal infections, dry eyes, allergies.

Dr. Youn spends extra time to determine the most appropriate treatment for ever worsening  myopia or reading and helping to correct attention problems in young patients.

Eye exams normally take about 40 minutes. First, we will have one of our opticians take you through our pre-testing. Next, Dr. Youn will dilate the eyes for a thorough exam and will often un-dilate the eyes at the end of the exam for comfort.  Even with the reversal of dilation (using special eye drops), we recommend that you come in with a driver, if it is at all possible. You may opt out of some tests if you are not comfortable with them.

Eyes can be affected by a lot of systemic conditions, such as high blood pressure, cholesterol problems, diabetes, hardening of the arteries, toxic and adverse effects of medications, arthritis, brain tumors, strokes, etc.  Because of the complex nature of the causes for eye diseases, the treatments are complex as well. Correct diagnosis is the first step to the effective treatment of these conditions. The use of high tech equipment can increase the accuracy of the diagnosis and early detection. We utilize an extensive list of high tech equipment such as a digital retinal camera, topographer, pachymeter, slit lamp mounted anterior camera, threshold visual field analyzer and computerized eye teaming test for our routine eye examinations.
